As promised here is Pauli Kraus the 1st of two fighters in the 2nd Series listing of heavyweight German fighters.
Interesting with Kraus, did fight info in Ring accounts that Kraus was born in Berlin of German parents but apparently some point resided in the Netherlands and took up that nationality as listed in BoxRec though the Ring accounts found of the many of his fights, not all, they alternated between referring to him as German and Holland/Dutchman/Netherlands nationality.

Fightsrec.com lists him as Paul Kraus with the Nickname Willem Bomber Pauli Kraus with his origin as Berlin Germany.

Accounts of his fights throughout his career in Ring Magazine appeared to go by Paul Kraus.

Boxerlist.com shows his DOB as 1937-10-12 and DOD as 2011-09-16.

A website, blipfoto.com/entry/3540487 has a photo of a Pauli Kraus Jr. whom the short article says Pauli Kraus the boxer was his father who had owned a "notorious bar" in Arnhem and that father Pauli died in 2011. There is a facebook site called WeAreKickboxers with some posts and photos of Pauli, his son and Pauli had a brother Berhard who boxed but BoxRec has no record for him.

Pauli had a brother, Bernhard, who boxed also but no record for him in BoxRec. If you google search Pauli Kraus you come up with a website alamy.com that has some photos of Bernhard practicing with Pauli.

If you look through the accounts below where weights were noted in the Ring publications, Kraus seemed to have a probablem with his weight up and down, could easily give him a 4 conditioning. I decided with his new rating giving him a 7. After the Johnny Prescott fight in Jan 1963 the rest of his career 1963 thru 1969 he was very infrequent with his times in the ring.

Oct 1961 Ring - 07/21/61 Referenced Kraus as Willem Kraus, 201 drew with Kurt Stroer, 181.

Dec 1961 Ring - 09/09/61 Paul Kraus stopped Adolf Mesninger, 200 in the first round.Account mentions Kraus was born in Berlin, but comes from Holland.

Dec 1961 Ring - 09/29/61 Paul Kraus, 189 floored opponent, Paul Kremer, Lugenbourg, three times before the bout was halted in the 2nd.

Jan 1962 Ring - 10/06/61 German, Guenther Huber promoted himself this fight program in Frieburg, Germany. The overall program turned out a financial success for Huber, but his personnel fight against Paul Kraus was not as Kraus floored Huber three times in the 5th and then Huber's corner threw in the towel.

Feb 1962 Ring - 11/11/61 - Dutchman, as he was refered as,Paul Krause, 203, won over Belgium, Andre Wyns in 3.

Feb 1962 Ring - Ring Annual ratings had Paul Kaus listed among the Class C heavyweights.

April 1962 Ring - 01/05/62 Paul Kraus 204, and Ossi Buettner, 206 engaged in what was described as a "terrific maul". Buettner ended up on the canvas four times before his corner stopped the fight.

April 1962 Ring - 01/20/62 Paul Kraus' weight noted as 203 and being from HOlland in his knock out win over Henri Frejule of France.

May 1962 Ring - 02/24/62 Paul Kraus, 203 dropped Belgian, Jose Peyre four times in the this bout before Peyre retired.Peyre was a last minute sub in the fight.

July 1962 Ring - 04/19/62 This fight account mentions that Kraus was born of German parents, but hailed from the Netherlands. It mentions he was a former representative of the Dutch amateur team. His opponent, German Erwin Hack retired in the 5th round from Kraus' heavy punching beating.

Aug 1962 Ring - 05/05/62 Ulli Nitzschke, 198 and Paul Kraus, 198 engaged in a tough slugging match. Nitzschke, was dropped to the canvas in the 2nd round but fought back sending Kraus down for a 6 count in the third and after some further beating, Kraus surrendered.

Nov 1962 Ring - 09/01/62 Pual Kraus, 199, Holland, beat Rene Goubelle, France in 3.

Jan 1963 Ring - 10/06/62 Paul Kraus, 198 only managed a draw with Ulli Ritter even though Kraus had dropped Ritter in the opening round.


Feb 1963 Ring - Annual Ring ratings had Paul Kraus listed with the Class B Heayweights. He would not show up again in the rankings after this year.

Feb 1963 Ring - 11/09/62 John Henry 191, showed himself too experienced for the Dutchman, Paul "Bomber" Kraus 199 to handle beating Kraus in an 8 round decision.

March 1963 Ring - 11/30/62 Paul Kraus, 210 gave up in the 7th round against Frankie Daniels, 199.

April 1963 Ring - 01/22/63 Johnny Prescott, Birmingham, England, knocked out Paul Kraus, 199.75 in 2 minutes, 48 seconds of the 3rd round. In the Boxing News account, Jan 26,1963, it mentions PRescott is the unbeaten Midland Area heavyweight champion. Referee Micky Fox counted out Kraus after he dropped on one knee after a two fisted flurry of punches from PRescott.

Feb 1964 Ring - 11/08/63 After being inactive the whole year after his January thumping by Johnny Prescott, Paul Kraus, 206 was outslugged by Ulli Ritter, 202 in an 8 rounder.

July 1964 Ring - 04/10/64 AFter consecutive draws to Carl Welschou and Frankie Daniels in the later half of November 1963, which I found no accounts of in Ring, in another matchup against Ulli Ritter, 193, Paul Kraus, 200 was trounced again by Ritter in another 8 rounder.

Oct 1964 Ring - 06/26/64 Paul Kraus was belted around hard int he opening round by opponent Ossi Buettner, but then surprisingly it seemed, Kraus floored Buettner for a 9 count in the second and then KO'd Buettner in the 3rd with a right hand hook to the chin.

March 1965 Ring - 11/27/64 Wilhelm von Homburg, 181 vs Paul Kraus 203.With the 20+ pound weight advantage, Kraus was able to handle Wilhem for a bit early on, even dropping von Homburg during the 2nd round with a one-two to the chin. HOmburg got up immediatly without a count and put the Berlin-born Dutchman down as the gong sounded.Then with another left hook at the start of the 3rd, Kraus went down again and his corner shortly after threw in the towel.

Nov 1965 Ring - 08/02/65 Invactive since November 1964, Paul Kraus stepped in to fight Ray Patteron and was out of condition and no match for Patterson. Patterson stopped the bout in the 5th round to save Kraus who was exhausted from undue harm.

May 1967 Ring - 02/11/67 Peter Weiland found a tough fight it would seem surprisingly in Paul Kraus, Holland. Kraus seemed to be giving a good account of himself until to everyone's surprise he gave up in the 6th round. Too out of shape again to carry it on long?

Dec 1967 Ring 08/19/67 Paul Kraus staggered Dante Cane in the first round but then carelessnes in the second did Kraus in in the 2nd round.

Feb 1969 Ring 10/25/68 "Bomber" Kraus, Holland, drew 8 rounds with Vittorio Venrengia.

June 1969 Ring 03/06/69 Jose Urtain, Spain, beat German Paul Kraus in 1 min, 40 sec of round 2 sending Kraus to the canvas 5 times in the process.
