June 4-6, 2041: at Detroit (3)
Game 1: The Rays routed the Tigers at Comerica Park with an 18-hit attack in a 10-1 win. Vinny Willard turned in his best start of the year (6 2 1 1 3 7 to improve to 3-2, 4.03) while the hit parade was led by Seth Williams (4-6 with 2 RBI), Kevin Morley (3-5 with an RBI double) and Eric Phillips (2-5 with 3 RBI). Josh Alexander added a 3-run shot (#16) to get the Rays going in the 4th.
Game 2: Jose Mendoza keeps on dominating and Seth Williams had another huge night as the Rays took care of the Tigers 6-1. Mendoza was 6 5 1 0 3 5 to up his record to 8-0, 2.63 as he's now allowed just one earned run in his last 4 starts covering 25.2 IP. Williams meanwhile had his second consecutive 4-hit night doubling in a run and scoring twice. Josh Alexander was 2-5 with a 2-run double.
Game 3: The Rays completed the sweep of Detroit with a 6-3 win. Danny Romero was solid in going to 9-1 with a 7 7 3 3 1 4 outing while Kikuo Kawase had a perfect 2K 9th for save #17. Eric Phillips had his best day as a Ray, going 3-4 with an RBI double and a solo homer (#3), while Jeff Baez was 2-4 with a 2-run double and Seth Williams added a 2-run single to cap his big series.
Team record: 50-12. Next up: 3 games in Boston.
