June 7: Activated OF Dan Gregory from the 10-day IL and OF Andy Ruggles from the restricted list, optioned OF Doug Johns and P Danny Hill to AAA Durham.

Game 1: Brad Jackson got knocked around a bit and the Rays dropped the series opener at Fenway Park 5-3 to the Red Sox. Jackson was hit for 4.1 8 5 5 2 4 with a 3-run 5th doing him and the Rays in. Seth Williams and Eric Phillips were each 2-4 with an RBI.

Josh Alexander had a huge game as well, 4-6 with HR #17 and 4 RBI while Mike Willis banged out 4 hits, driving in one and stealing a base and Andy Ruggles drove in 5 with a 3-run HR (#13) and a 2-run single. Jeff Brockman put his usual string of zeroes and went 5.2 4 1 1 1 7 to improve to 12-0, 1.51.

Game 3: The bats feasted again in a 9-3 win with Mike Willis recording his second straight 4-hit day, this time doubling twice, homering (#3) and driving in 3. Dan Gregory had his best game since coming off the DL by doubling an driving in 3 and Josh Beckett was 3-4 with an RBI. Vinny Willard looked sharp again even though he continues to pitch to contact, with a 6.2 4 3 2 2 3 line good enough to get him to 4-2, 3.91.

Team record: 52-13, a cool .800. Next up: Back home for 3 vs Oakland.
