Walkers news: August 21 -- St. Louis 7, Cleveland 4

Record: 68-51, 1st, 1 GA Cedar Rapids
St. Louis jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning and a half, and held on to defeat Cleveland 7-4 at Cleveland Stadium (1980).
Catcher Jackson Miller had a nice day at the plate for the River Walkers going 3 for 5 with a homer, three runs scored and an RBI.
Miller scored the game's first run in the top of the first, when he doubled with one out off Juke Box Heroes starting pitcher Bill Van Gieson and scored when Nick Shaw hit his 16th homer of the season.
Miller hit a solo homer in the second off Van Gieson to make it 3-0.
It's lead sitting at 4-3, the River Walkers expanded that edge with three runs in the top of the eighth against the Cleveland bullpen.
Heroes reliever Leo Hermosillo allowed the first three batters to reach base, including an RBI double by Nathaniel Dixon.
Pinch-hitter Eddie Estrella then drove in a run with a ground out.
Bob Saaedra plated the game's final run with a single.
St. Louis starting pitcher Xavier Wigfall (9-9) worked 6.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out five and walked three.
Reliever Greg Sones replaced Wigfall, and failed to retire any of the three batters he faced -- allowing two singles and a walk -- as the Heroes scored once to pull to within 4-3.
Scott Rissler got Edgar Bustillos to fly out with the bases loaded to end the seventh.
Ron Cox worked a scoreless eighth, but issues three walks in the ninth to load the bases with two outs.
Nick Strother took over, and allowed a single to Bustillos to make it 7-4.
However, Strother got Joey Kiernan to fly out to end it.
The save was Strother's 24th of the season.
