One game separates the top three teams in the division.

If we beat the Dodgers today, we are tied with them. If the Reds also lose, there will be a three way tie for 1st.

First things first, though. We need to beat the Dodgers.

They are pitching Mike Witt (15-13, 3.36).

The Giants have Scott Garrelts (13-13, 2.73).

I have done well against Witt, going 8 for 25, or .320.

We got behind early as the second batter of the game - our former teammate, Chili Davis - belted a two run homer.
I caught a floater from Brian Deak for the 3rd out.

Dodgers lead 2-0

I led off for the home side by dropping one into short right centre for a single.
With one out I grabbed stolen base #113.
I scored on a Ryan Klesko single.

Dodgers lead 2-1

I took care of a Dave Anderson grounder for the 3rd out in the 2nd.

I led off again in the 3rd and this time I drew a walk.
Stolen base #114... and then #115!
I scored on a Robby Thompson single to tie the game!

Game tied 2-2

I came up in the 4th with two out, Luis Medina on 3rd, and Phil Oullette on 2nd. I grounded out to Kent Hrbek at 1st.

I caught a Phil Plantier pop for the 1st out in the 6th.

I handled a Bill Spiers grounder for the 1st out in the 7th.

I led off the bottom of the 7th by reaching on an infield hit.
Stolen base #116.
I scored on a single by Robby again!

Giants lead 3-2!

I took care of a Steve Sax grounder for the 1st out in the 8th.

With two out and a man on in the 8th, Jim went to Bobby Thigpen.
He got the 3rd out.

I came up in the 8th with two out, Phil on 3rd, and Ken Dayley pitching.
I grounded out to Anderson at short.

Mark Williamson took over for us in the 9th.
I handled a Tim Wallach grounder for the 1st out behind him.
Two batters later, we had the win! We swept the Dodgers in a three game set!

I went 2 for 4, with two singles, a walk, all three of our runs scored, and four stolen bases!

And the Padres beat the Reds, 5-0!

THERE IS A THREE WAY TIE FOR FIRST IN THE NL WEST!

We have nine games left! Based on the strength of the remaining competition, the experts are giving us the advantage - 43.8% chance of winning compared to 31.4% for the Reds and 24.9% for the Dodgers.

Tomorrow we face the Astros.

The Reds face the Braves.

The Dodgers face the Padres.

Let's go.
