Every game is huge.

The Astros are in town.

They are pitching Randy Tomlin (8-9, 2.88).

The Giants have Frank Viola (21-7, 1.69).

I have had little exposure to Tomlin, going 1 for 5.

I led off for the home side by hitting one into right for a single.
I never got any further.

In the 2nd I started a Priske - Thompson - Deer double play to get Harold Baines and Dave Gallagher.

In the bottom half, Rob Deer scored on a Ryan Klesko groundout.

Giants lead 1-0

I came up in the 3rd with one out and Tim Naehring on 2nd. I flew out to Baines in right but Tim moved up on the play.
He then scored on a Lonnie Smith triple.

Giants lead 2-0

I handled a Glenn Davis grounder for the 3rd out in the 4th.

I then did the same to Gallagher for the 1st out in the 5th.

In the bottom of the 5th I again came up with one out and Tim on 2nd. I grounded out to Casey Candaele at 2nd, again moving Tim up.
This time he was left there.

I took care of a Dickie Thon grounder for the 2nd out in the 6th.
I caught a Craig Biggio liner for the 3rd out.

In the 7th I came up, once AGAIN with one out and Tim on 2nd, but this time I also had Alan Cockrell on 3rd. I hit one up the middle for a two run single!
I was doubled off.

Giants lead 4-0

And that is how it ended as Frank went the distance for the shutout!

I went 2 for 4 with a pair of singles and two RBI!

But what did the out-of-town scoreboard tell us?

The Reds beat the Braves, 10-3, but the Dodgers lost, 4-3 to the Padres!
