Walkers news: Sept. 6 -- St. Louis 4, Akron 0

Record: 78-54, 1st, 6 GA Cedar Rapids
Xavier Wigfall pitched seven shut-out innings and Marcos Francis broke open a scoreless game with a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning, as St. Louis downed Akron 4-0 at Busch Stadium (2006).
A two-out double by John Polk with two outs in the top of the second inning was the only hit Wigfall allowed.
Wigfall (11-9) struck out 10 and walked three.
Flying Feet starting pitcher Josh Thomas was almost as impressive holding the River Walkers scoreless into the sixth.
But Manuel Coke opened the bottom portion of that inning with a double.
Nick Shaw was then given an intentional walk.
Francis took advantage smacking a 1-1 pitch 436 feet over the wall in left-center for his 18th home run of the season and a 3-0 lead.
St. Louis added an insurance run an inning later.
Pinch-hitter Nathaniel Dixon scored it after he led off with a single off reliever Adam Disney.
A balk moved Dixon to second.
Dixon reached third on a Bob Saavedra ground out.
When Disney uncorked a wild pitch, Dixon crossed the plate.
Brennan Weldon pitched a scoreless eighth for St. Louis.
Armando Cintron did the same in the ninth.
