What is going on with Baseball Reference?
In the last year, Baseball Reference has taken it upon themselves to re-name a lot of players in its database. This has made it incredibly difficult to keep track and update the Facepack along with my own independent research. UKbaseballfan has pointed out to me that they changed 1880s Chicago shortstop "Ned Williamson" to "Ed Williamson." Without an explanation, this seems very odd to me and will make it difficult to find him for the casual baseball fan as he has traditionally been referred to as "Ned." Contemporary newspaper articles used both names when writing about him.
