2013-14: 187 players available in the draft
2014-15: 183 players available in the draft
2015-16: 135 players available in the draft
2016-17: 91 players available in the draft
2017-18: 64 players available in the draft
2018-19: 44 players available in the draft
2019-20: 38 players available in the draft
2020-21: 31 players available in the draft
2021-2022 it finally generated to where 217 players were drafted. Same for 2022-23
Sounds like FHM8 might be similar in this regard.

Or maybe it isn't:
2013-14: 210
2014-15: 190
2015-16: 164
2016-17: 142
2017-18: 123
2018-19: 101
2019-20: 95
2020-21: 91
2021-22: 89
As Adam said, I've been adding the more recent draftees, and continue to do so when I have time.
The reason the draft gets larger after the final real season is that a historical game, at that point, converts itself to a custom game, and begins using the fictional draft prospect generation mechanics.
There's no way, without a whole bunch of additional coding, to use random prospect generation prior to that. And it would be counter to the idea of a
historical game if there was. It's one thing to fictionalize 2022+ because, at that point, the game isn't modeling history any more. It's quite another to start introducing fake players into pre-2022 years.
