Thanks for the reply, but I respectfully disagree. A real life gm, it's his job to fill the holes in his roster, no matter what. So many times I see gms say on July 1st, or July 2nd or 3rd. "Yes we need a starting goalie, and I do have a few offers on the table. Should hear back at any time"

Back a couple years ago, edmonton was all in on markstrom. He chose calgary. Less than an hour later, Smith resigned in edmonton. I can almost gaurnentee that both offers to Smith and markstrom were active at the same time. Im also sure that the Smith contract was dependent on markstroms decision. What if markstrom did sign in edmonton and Smith also signed? The Oilers would have markstrom, Smith and koskinen on their roster.

Also had markstrom signed in edmonton, 1 of 2 things would have happened. Either holland pulls out of negotiations with Smith, or Smith pulls out of negotiations with edmonton, and signs elsewhere.

Basically it's not smart gming to put all your eggs in one basket. If you offer 1 contract, by the time he makes his decision and picks another team, there is nobody left on the market to fill the hole you have.

Also the option to confirm, cancel, or delay is also available for trade offers once it get accepted. This allows for multiple trade offers at a time if that's what you want to do, to make sure your 100% confident your making the right move. Why can't this this kind of confirmation be available for signing free agents?
