Feature: Orange Is the New Back

Eight place, seventh place, FIRST place? The Orange Tourists got off to a terrible start in their Nuka World League premier, finishing dead last and just above it in their first two seasons. This season, though, they are looking to break the regular season record held by Quartz from last season (49-35, .583). At 28-8 (.778), the Tourists may shatter that record.

Looking at some of their transactions, Orange acquired a few key players for the 2301 season. That includes Finch Farm throwaway Bull Johnson (3-2, 2.92, 3rd in NWL in ERA) as their ace. Johnson left the Four Leafs from the CBO following the 2299 season, sitting out all of 2300. Then the Four Leafs traded him to Orange for a few part-time players in their organization. Now, Johnson is a force in the NWL, currently second in strikeouts (56), first in K/9 (9.6), and third in ERA+ (172).

Besides Johnson, the Tourists also signed Micha Ballard (5-0, 3.83, T-2nd in wins) after he was cut by The Slog during the 2300 offseason. Ballard was 6-2 with a 5.36 ERA with the CBO's Ghouls in 2300 in 14 starts. Ballard took the opportunity after his time with The Slog to try to make his name among the Commonwealth's major tourist attractions.

1B Brennan Barratt is a third potential star for the Tourists who came over from the CBO, this time from the Oberland T-51s organization. In a straight up trade for the Tourists' ace in 2300, David Orangeman, the T-51s sent Barratt to Orange. In 2300 with the Fiddler's Green T-60s, Barratt hit .400 in 20 at-bats with two home runs and eight RBI. This season, he is showing his worth, batting .440 (4th in NWL) in 125 at-bats with three home runs and 28 RBI (T-9th).

With those three players joining some already productive Orange players in SP Sooner Coen (4-0, 1.74, 1st in ERA), RF Able Gabel (.442/2/32, 3rd in average and 5th in RBI), and CL Robbie Graves (14 SV, 1st in NWL) the Tourists are well above the rest of the NWL and at this point look to be the 2301 frontrunners.
