Messing around with old cards sounds awesome! I'm really curious to see what else you come up with...
And yeah, all that space around the facegen is almost like a blank canvas where you can express your creativity. If it was me, I'd probably try to strike a balance between artistic impression without getting too cluttered.
Either way, sounds like fun!
