On to the ALCS...
The Rays completed the sweep of Seattle behind a strong outing from Jose Mendoza and a couple of big hits while surviving another bullpen scare to take a 4-2 win. Josh Beckett's 2-run double in the 4th and Jimmy Leonard's 2-run homer in the 6th supplied the offense, and Mendoza allowed just one run in 6 innings. Things got a bit dicey in the 8th when Ed Pretty loaded the bases with 2 out, and Freddy Zamora, who struggled big-time in Game 2, walked in a run before getting a force to end the inning. Fortunately Kikuo Kawase closed out the 9th without incident, and the Rays are on to the ALCS once again.
In the other ALDS:
Houston is one game away from forcing a rematch of the last season's ALCS thanks to a couple of former Rays as Danny Ayala had a big homer and Alfredo Vega went 5 2/3 innings of 1-run ball.
