Cardenas is a 19-year-old lefty who has yet to play in pro ball but was slated to pitch for our DSL team this summer. He's regarded as a potential 55 stuff, 60 control starter so he's a legit prospect. But I figured I'd shop him when I saw his name pop up with some better prospects of ours in "make it work" offers. Which led us to Saro, who looks like the real deal as a CF prospect. His details:
Dan Gregory is 31 and while we've got him under contract for a few more years we don't have an heir apparent. While Saro isn't going to be a gold glover, he looks capable of playing the position on a decent level and projects to be an above-average contact and power hitter so it seemed a gamble worth taking, especially given his impressive minor league numbers so far:
