If I then copy it back to my ballparks folder how do I keep the game from automatically overwriting it next season with file with the years in parentheses, requiring me to repeat the process?

First off, let me clarify where your ballparks are. You say that "the park is in my data\ballparks directory." All your parks should be in "Cocuments\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 22\ballparks\models." If they are not, they won't work correctly or at all. Is that where you have them? That is the default location when you install the game.
