Who says you can't go home again?

Welcome back, Diego Castillo! A Ray for 6 seasons before being traded to the Nationals in the deal which brought us Carter Kieboom, Castillo is back to help out the bullpen with his 70 stuff and 70 movement. He had a great season last year with the Mets with a 3.25 ERA, 0 HR allowed and 1.6 WAR, and was doing OK this year with a 3.48 ERA in 41 IP. He takes the place of Levi Stoudt, headed the other way in this deal, who has never been effective as a Ray. Contreras, the other player involved, has pedestrian stuff and is more a control artist who's a long shot to make the bigs. Castillo is under contract for one more season at $3.2M but the Mets are picking up almost $1M of that so he'll be a good value at that reduced number next year. Ironically, two of the three players we sent to Washington in that 2023 deal for Kieboom are now back with us, Blake Hunt being the other. Somebody named Davis Agle was other we player we sent over and he's now toiling in the Astros' system after being released by the Nats.
