Walkers news: August 14 -- Cedar Rapids 9, St. Louis 0

Record: 63-50, 1st, 5.5 GA Des Moines
Cedar Rapids roughed up St. Louis starting pitcher Xavier Wigfall for five runs in the top of the first inning and the Grapplers breezed to a 9-0 win at Busch Stadium (2006).
Beginning with a walk to lead-off Miguel Mato, Cedar Rapids put its first five batters on base against Wigfall.
Jose Morillo followed with a single and when Eric Gerhardt doubled Mato scored to make it 1-0.
Arnold Hammond followed with a two-run double.
Tim Jurgensen topped that with a triple, scoring the inning's fourth run.
Matt Thurston drove in Jurgrensen with the inning's final run with a ground out.
The Grapplers did the rest of their scoring late in the game.
Santos Villanueva hit a two-run homer off Scott Rissler, who had just entered the game, with two outs in the seventh.
Armando Cintron gave up a pair of singles to Austin Hendrick and Mato to open the top of the eighth.
A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third.
Morillo drove in Hendrick with a ground out.
After Cintron hit Gerhardt with a pitch and another wild pitch put runners at second and third, Hammond made it 9-0 with a ground ball which scored Mato.
Cintron had to leave the game with a back problem with two outs in the inning.
Overshadowed by the offense, Josh Downer turned in a strong mound outing for the Grapplers.
Downer (5-8) went six scoreless innings allowing three hits. He struck out four and walked one.
Rhett Daniel worked a scoreless seventh for Cedar Rapids
Jordyn Ibarra didn't give up a run in the eighth or ninth.
