Record: 65-52, 1st, 5.5 GA Des Moines
Tied 3-3, St. Louis scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning -- two of them on a double by pitcher Jesse McNaboe -- and the River Walkers went on to defeat Chicago 6-4 at Wrigley Field.
Both teams scored three times in the second inning.
Mark Herman hit a three-run home run off G-Men starting pitcher Hugo Manscal for St. Louis.
Luis Tejada led off the bottom of the inning with a homer off McNaboe.
Manscal later connected on an RBI double.
Nick Shaw led off the Walkers fourth with a single and Eddie Estrella followed with a walk,
A wild pitch by Manscal moved the runners to second and third.
Shaw scored on a Mark Waterson ground out.
After an intentional walk to Abdul-Nasser bin Amr, McNaboe connected on his double into the gap in right center plating a pair.
On the mound, McNaboe (6-8) allowed four runs on four hits over five-plus innings. He struck out three and walked the same.
McNaboe returned to the mound for the sixth but gave up a lead-off single to Josh Rosborough.
Greg Sones took over but after a strike out of pinch-hitter Jessie Willoughby walked the next to load the bases.
Maximiliano Minelli got the game and struck out Ken Turner only to follow that with a walk to Art McKee to force in a run.
Minelli, however, did strike out Ben Nelson to keep the score 6-4.
It would remain that way the rest of the game.
Minelli would end up pitching 1.2 innings.
Nick Ruffalo (0.2 IP) and Scott Rissler (0.1) would combine on a scoreless eighth.
Bobby Westerman handled the ninth for his 18th save.
