Big trade news!

It's been no secret of late that we need a starter despite our fine season record as Joel Gird and Johnny Soland were lost for the season and Dan Anderson has struggled mightily as a replacement. Throw in Jose Mendoza's inconsistency and help was needed. So we went out and did this:

Who is Gordie Ager? A pretty fine starter. See for yourself:

He gives us an all-lefty rotation which I supposed could be problematic if we face a righty-dominated lineup in the playoffs, but it's a risk we'll take. As you can see from the numbers above, he's been one of the AL's best pitchers this year and he's been outstanding this season. (No idea why he's "angry" though after being traded to a playoff team, maybe I need to advance the game a day and see if he's still). Ager will obviously take Dan Anderson's place in the rotation and Aidan Williams is being returned to Durham with Anderson sliding back into the pen.

As for the guys we gave up, both are considered decent pitching prospects (they were our second round picks in 2041 and 2042), although their minor league numbers have not backed that up so I'm dealing them while they still have their prospect sheen. Ager, like so many on our team, will start getting expensive next year and if Gird and Soland are healthy we may have to deal a starter in 2044.
