Here's a look at the standings into the final month of the season (through games of September 4):
Quite the race in the NL both for the Central and the wild cards. Things are bit more cut and dried in the AL.
We also some monthly awards go to minor leaguers:
Herring is one of those guys I've targeted in drafts as a market inefficiency - players who are listed as pitchers, usually with mediocre ratings, who have good potential hitting tools. So I make them hitters, or at least two-way players, and have had some success with them. Herring has raked at Low-A and we'll see if he can keep it up.
Thomas was a more traditional hitting pick, a high-school 1B we took with our supplemental 1st round pick last year. He struggled in his first go-round at rookie-level Princeton but has mashed this year with 65 RBI in 59 games. We'll see how he does in full-season ball next year.
