Lynn Woods Pilot Mungo Acclaimed NL Best: Lynn Woods manager Carlos Mungo was selected as the 2301 North League Manager of the Year today.

He was somewhat of a dark horse next to some of the more flashy managers up for the award. Mungo, who prefers that everyone call him "Cap" or "Skip," tries to shy away from the limelight in a media-driven world.

"It's really unfair to the guys that busted their humps all year long to put all the focus on me now. They showed up early, put in extra time in the cage, worked on their fielding, consulted with our coaching staff and really made 2301 a highlight in my career."

In fairness to this year's Manager of the Year, Mungo certainly played an important part in the Bloatflies success as he guided them to a first place finish in the North League Northeast Division and a 53-23 record.

South League Names #1 Manager: The Poseidon Energy Mongrels coaching staff broke out the bubbly when Manager Soini Alapassi was announced as 2301 South League Manager of the Year.

He skippered the Mongrels to a 59-17 record this year and a first place finish in the South League Southeast Division.

To a man, they all agreed that their boss was most deserving of the award. All had glowing words to say about this year's winning manager.

"He just has a way with people. Coaches and players alike love him."

Neilan Wins North League Pitching Crown: In 2301, the premier pitcher in the North League was Trooper Neilan. The Sanctuary Hills starter is this year's recipient of the Young Gun Award.

He went 12-4 in 17 starts with 160 strikeouts in 137.2 innings and an impressive 2.22 ERA.

He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Lobby Chairleg of the Lynn Woods Bloatflies finished second in voting, while Brahmin Lover Beardman of the Medford Medics finished third.
