Not sure what you mean by that. Catchers have been framing pitches for decades. The day the umpire set up behind the catcher is the day the catcher did his best to receive a borderline pitch in such a way as to get a strike for his pitcher.

I’m hoping he means that there’s a bigger spread for historical leagues because historically speaking fewer catchers did pitch framing well and up until the study was done in in the early 2010s there was some amount of controversy that it even did anything.
