Good luck with what's hopefully an upgrade. Don't try to take on too much at once, though I feel like maybe I'm not the best one to give this advice. I accidentally applied for a promotion (it's more like I don't know how to say no) and today I heard I got it. Technically it's a lateral move, but it's much more prestigious even if my benefits are the same.

I actually think this job would simplify my job description since I currently hold FOUR paid positions at my college. To get the promotion, I would hold one position that takes up my time, 8-4 PM M-F. These days, I will often start checking email around 5:30 AM and planning my day around those emails (for example, if I have to process 20 graduation applications that day, then I know part of what is going to take place in my workday). I am in the office from 8-1 unless there are afternoon meetings (average about once a week) and then take a lunch break. Depending on how much I have going on, I often get home, and then I'm back "on the clock" at 2 PM. Once I have finished my work, then I get started on whatever I have to do for my doctoral studies. I typically then grind through assignments on Saturday and Sunday unless I have to grade papers. Then I do those first and then work on my assignments as much as I can.
Yeah, my days would be simplified and there would be few times other than the early learning curve where I would have to do anything before 8 AM or after 4 PM. The difference would be that my contract would change from a 9-month contract to a 12-month contract, so there would be no options for summers off anymore.
