2022 USA HSS Playoffs Wildcard Round
Two of our four players' teams made the 2022 USA HSS Playoffs!
Jose Patino’s Oklahoma City HS Stampede finished second in their division with a record of 23-17. The team finished 4th in defensive efficiency, 4th in home runs, 5th in ERA, and 11th in K’s. Patino himself had a very productive year as the Stampede #1 starter. The young freshman posted a 4-1 record with a 3.76 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP (10 G, 7 GS). He struck out 11.5 batters per 9 innings and managed an ERA+ of 263. He will line up against Louisville HS starter Israel de Leon (0-2, 7.46 ERA).
Moses Brown’s South Los Angeles HS Spirit won the inaugural Western Conference Californian Division, edging out rivals North Los Angeles by a single game! Brown started 38 of his team's 40 games this season and lead the Western Conference in WAR (2.1). He hit 18 HR and had 63 RBI this season. His slash was really good at .401/.522/.821/1.343! He never truly was able to settle down as he allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in the four innings he pitched. He walked two and struck out three. Brown quiet as San Diego HS take down South Los Angeles, tie series at 2. Brown was quiet today as the San Diego HS Sky Chiefs took down the South Los Angeles Spirit, 6-2, and evened up the series. Brown went 1-5 with a double as the freshman was unable to get going today, something we are accustomed to seeing lately. Now he’ll need to be on top of his game if his Spirit are to get past San Diego in Game 5 in two days' time.
Louisville HS cut the lead in half as they beat Oklahoma City 11-7 in Game 3.
