Clearly, your problem is that you're following what I said, not what I
meant to say
What I meant to say is that, in cell B2, you insert the following equation:
=sum(B1+1)
In cell B1, you put the unique ID number that you want to start the range of ID numbers you'll be assigning to your names. So, for instance, if you want to start with ID number 400000, then you'll insert that number into cell B1. With the equation in cell B2, the cell will be filled with 400001. Then fill down from cell B2 to the end of your list.
