Concerning the historical 20 losing seasons, I'll see some of the effect of that because I'm playing historical rookies. And although I'm limiting spending I still may be in a better position money wise than the real life PIrates.
Then there's the advantage a human GM has when playing with historical players, even with development and TCR on. Even though a player's career is likely to be a plausible alternative to reality, a human can't erase from his memory what a player did in real life and benefit at least a bit from that.
Barry Bonds previously signed a long term contract that became a bargain as time passed. He may sign another. That would help the Pirates a lot.
