Good News Bad News

The good news was the team was winning, and ultimately that's job one. The extra practice time paid off as well, as our faceoff percentage climbed significantly to a win rate of almost 60% against the Flames. On the other side of the ledger, in our first 8 games, the Courtnall brothers had only one point between the two of them.

We all loved Rusty's speed, but for whatever reason the Speedy Forward role we had him in just wasn't clicking. So we decided to make some tactical adjustments to try and get the Courtnall line going. Russ was far and away the best skater on our second unit, but rather than have him going solo and leading the rush, we thought it best to try him in a playmaking support role. (At the same time, we gave him the green light to play up-tempo in the hope of triggering some offensive production).
