19 March

Starlight 1 at County Crossing 2

Whip Lashley allowed one earned run on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts in 7.1 innings to earn the victory in Game One for the hometown Bloodbugs.

Joel Carrotflower drove in the first run of the game for County Crossing in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single after Lady Killers' starter Sam Molina walked two batters to start the inning.

The Bugs' second run of the game came on reliever Adan Cent's wild pitch to score Taygun Topaloglu from third in the 7th. The Killers' only run came in the top of the 8th when Jesus Church hit an RBI sacrifice fly.

Starlight's Sam Molina suffered the loss, allowing one earned run on five hits with four walks and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings.

20 March

Starlight 6 at County Crossing 4

Starlight evened the series thanks to big hits by Nick Maris and Jesus Church. Maris went 4 for 4 with a triple, a walk, and a run scored. Church was 3 for 5 with a home run, a run, and two RBI.

Hope Scrapper got the biggest hit of the game for the Lady Killers', though, in the top of the 4th. With the bases loaded and the scored tied, 0-0, Scrapper hit a bases-clearing double for the 3-0 lead. Church's homer ended up knocking in the winning runs, to make the game 5-1 at the time on the way to a 6-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th.

Chris Schneier picked up the win by allowing three earned runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 6.0 innings. One of the hits he allowed was a two-run blast by Taygun Topaloglu in the bottom of the 6th. Otherwise, the Bugs had no other extra-base hits in the game.

21 March

Starlight 8 at County Crossing 5

Starlight blasted the Bugs for five 1st-inning runs on their way to an 8-5 victory and the Nuka Cup Preseason Tournament championship.

Nick Maris, named the series MVP, started the game with a walk off County Crossing starter Jared Zaccone. Jesus Church and David Seaweed then hit back-to-back singles to drive in Maris. Zeldolph Violet then singled to load the bases with no outs. After a short fly out, Hubris McBride hit one deeper to drive in the second run with two outs. After a wild pitch scored Seaweed, Ray McMillen hit an RBI double for a 4-0 lead. Hope Scrapper followed up with another RBI double for the 5-0 advantage in the top of the 1st.

Starlight then scored two more runs in the top of the 2nd to chase Zaccone and make the game an early blowout. Seaweed tripled in Church after a walk and then later scored on Glenn Higinbotham's single.

The Bloodbugs' best inning came in the bottom of the 6th when they scored three runs after trailing 7-1 entering the inning. Long Hall led off with a walk against Starlight starter Jonathan Newman. After Nar Salem doubled in Hall, the Killers replaced Newman with Front Porch Potter. He got the first two batters he faced out, but then he walked Nick Lowe and then gave up back-to-back RBI singles to Ajani Peacock and Taygun Topaloglu.

For the series, Maris was 6 for 11 with a double, triple, three walks, two runs, and a stolen base.

"We have a lot to build on here," Starlight manager Eric Bendure said. "We made the playoffs two of the last three years, but we had a quick exit. We're looking to do something like what Nordhagen Beach did last year: use this tournament to start our winning ways. I'm excited for this team. But we have more work to do."
