Boston Youth Development League
BYDL Begins Today
The 2302 Boston Youth Development League begins its season today, almost a full month before the Cape Cod Youth League and the Providence Junior Pro League begin their seasons.
According to predictions, the South Beach Waves of the Samuel Morse Division are expected to outduel the Lynn Pier Gamers of the Ralph Waldo Emerson Division for the 2302 championship. The Gamers are expected to take the North Region crown over the Beerthirty Sippers of the Benjamin Franklin Division. In the South Region, the Waves should best the Circle Jerks of the Samuel Adams Division.
Top hitters from the North Region are expected to be 3B Plain Morris of the Concord-Lexington Minuteboys, RF Figgie Legendsport of the Sippers, and 1B Scott Back of the Gamers. The best pitchers are expected to be Lynn Pier's Scott Fuhr and Admiral Kelm and North Charles Bank's Mesquite Williams.
In the South Region, the best hitters are expected to be SS Stormin Normin MacDonald of the Jerks, Spectacle Island SS Aaron Squire, and Waves' LF Grandson Quarles. SP Robot Butler of the Castle Freedom, West Quincy's Canoe Rowe, and Kyle Gunnels of the Diamond City Newsboys are all expected to be the South Region's best pitchers.
Some of the top freshmen should include South Charles Bank's LF Schoolboy Graves, State House's 1B Syd Thriftstore, Wattz CF Shill Gehrig, Atomatoys' 3B Rip Risk, C Major Mette of Green Future, 1B Pauwoo Leopardskin of the Minuteboys, and C Kinsella Birdwatcher of Hester. There are not as many freshmen pitchers expected to make major contributions, but some of the higher prospects include Jordan Jones of the North Charles Bank Goonies, Batch Wilson of Andrew Station, Flapjack Rubenstein of the Waves, and Spectacle Island's freshman duo of Stranger Backrubman and Iz Northwest.
