A tough loss in the opener as the Rays had their chances in the late innings to tie or go ahead. Despite homering earlier in the game to answer an early Yankee lead, Jose Mendez failed to come through twice, once in the 7th with 2 men on and then again in the 9th with 2 men on. Gordie Ager wasn't sharp, allowing a couple of homers including one to long-time Rays-killer Elias Aragune. Now it'll be up to Jim Brophy to keep us from falling into an 0-2 hole in the series.
