BASEBALL CHRONICLE
Edition 1-5
Matthews Tosses First No Run Game
Allows Only 2 Hits Against Washington

Bobby Matthews definitely is not intimidating batters with his size and strength. The Baltimore native stands at only 5'5 and 140 pounds but the results when he throws would make your swear that he was bigger.
On May 23rd Matthews had a day that no one who saw it will soon forget. The 19 year old right hander went the complete nine innings and allowed no runs to the Philadelphia Athletics who had the likes of George Hall and Dick Higham in their lineup.
Not only did he allow no runs, but he also permitted the Athletics to scratch out two hits in what was a magnificent effort. The Olympics won the game going away by a score of 18-0. Matthews becomes the first pitcher on record to completely shutdown the opposition.
For the season he is 5-3 with a 2.91 ERA.
Olympics Score 41 Runs In One Afternoon
A Stretch Of 4 Games With 91 Runs
The Washington Olympic baseball club not only saw Bobby Matthews throw the first ever shutout. They also went on an offense run that took the league by storm and has the opposition devastated.
On May 20th the Olympics entertained the Rockford ball club and put a final score on them to wont soon be forgotten. Washington scored 41 runs in a nine inning game including a 20 run inning. Rockford made over 20 errors in the game to make the final score more attainable. After the big win the Olympics were not done scoring games of 18, 16, and 21 consecutively.
The Washington ball club is currently at 5-3 and in first place in the Federal Division. They have been lead by Ross Barnes who is hitting .395 and Deacon White who is hitting .400.
