Walkers news: April 15 -- St. Louis 3, Indianapolis 2
Record: 3-8, 6th, 3.5 GB Cedar Rapids
Daniel Torres drew a one-out walk from Indianapolis Ramiro Canales in the top of the ninth inning and later scored on a wild pitch as St. Louis snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Indianapolis at the Astrodome (1995).
Torres drew his walk on four-straight pitches.
He moved to third on an Alex Boychuk ground out.
A 2-0 pitch by Canales then eluded Racers catcher Ramon Montes as Torres crossed the plate with what-would-be the winning run.
The Racers had owned a 2-1 lead when Boychuk tied it with his first home run of the season in the top of the fourth off starting pitcher Chung Pei.
St. Louis starter Ming Xiang went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He struck out four and didn't issue a walk.
Ron Cox (1-1) earned the win after a scoreless eighth inning.
Craig Fritzler notched his first save after doing the same in the ninth.
