Tied 2-2, Green Bay scored three times in the bottom of the eighth inning and went on to defeat St. Louis 6-4 at PNC Park.
A two-run double by Mark Herman staked the River Walkers to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
The Mallards tied it in the bottom of the fourth when Sal Valdez hit a two-run homer off St. Louis starting pitcher Miguel Cisneros.
The Walkers retook the lead in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Ryan Wibbenmeyer off Green Bay starter Matt Loest.
Blaze Jordan retied it in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out homer off Cisneros.
The Mallards broke that tie against reliever Chris Willett in the bottom of the eighth.
Beginning with a lead-off double by Hugo Vargas followed by a Brady House single, Green Bay put five of its first six batters on base.
With runners at first and third and one out, Savion McMullan tripled to score two and make it 5-3.
Former St. Louis catcher Jackson Miller followed with a single to make it 6-3.
Loest went five innings, allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked one.
Former Walker reliever Scott Rissler pitched a scoreless sixth inning.
Jason Pappas struck out the side in the seventh and got the first out of the eighth.
Matt Rodriguez got out of a jam in the eighth without allowing a run.
Rodriguez (1-0) would net his first win of the season.
Phil Luis gave up a solo homer to Joe Allen in the ninth but still netted his sixth save.
The five Mallards pitchers combined to strike out 16 batters.
