Walkers news: April 27 -- Green Bay 3, St. Louis 1
Record: 7-15, 6th, 7 GB Quad City
Green Bay ruined the debut of St. Louis rookie starting Cory Birks by scoring three runs over the first two innings and the Mallards went on to defeat the River Walkers 3- 1 at PNC Stadium.
The win gave Green Bay wins in two of three games in the series
Jordan Lawlar opened the game with a lead-off single off Birks, who was making an emergency start for Agustin Perdomo, and Alberto Landaverde followed with being hit by a pitch.
A ground out by Devon Reyna put runners at second and third.
Blaze Jordan scored them both with a single.
In the second, Sean Reed coaxed a one-out walk from Birks.
Reed stole second and scored on a Lawlar single to make it 3-0.
John Haynes pitched the first four innings for the Mallards, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out six and walked five.
The three relievers who followed Hayes -- Angel Hurtado (2.0 IP), Efrain Garcia (1.0) and Matt Rodriguez (2.0) -- combined to shut out the River Walkers over the final five innings.
Hurtado (2-0) earned his second win.
Rodriguez got his first save.
