Thank you for the kind words, KCStengelSr. I don't think there's a secret to making small parks work, it's just being willing to put up with fielders standing in the street or under the stands and emerging into the field of play.
Regardless, the site of the MLB game is plenty big to not have that problem by the looks of it-- NBC Chicago's website says "The ballpark is 335 feet down the left and right field lines and 400 feet to dead center, with alleys that are 380 feet.", and the Google Maps picture I attached shows both the movie site and the site they used for the real game. Since they're going to play there again this year, I suppose it may be worth making, just a matter of who's going to actually do it.
