Walkers news: May 26 -- St. Louis 8, Cedar Rapids 3

Record: 22-27, 7th, 7 GB Cedar Rapids
Ryan Wibbenmeyer went 5 for 5 to help lead a 14-hit St. Louis attack as the River Walkers downed Cedar Rapids 8-3 at Busch Stadium (2006).
Down 2-0 after the Grapplers Eric Gerhardt homered off St. Louis starter Kevin Hrdlicka in the top of the first, Wibbenmeyer led off the bottom of the inning with a double off Cedar Rapids starter Jake Richardson.
Two batters later, Wibbenmeyer had scored after back-to-back singles from Mark Herman and Manuel Coke.
A walk to Nick Shaw loaded the bases.
Herman tied it when he scored while Joe Allen was hitting into a double play.
St. Louis took the lead an inning later, again Wibbenmeyer was involved.
Zach Wenman singled off Richardson.
However, Wenman was thrown out at second when Hrdlicka could not get a bunt down.
Wibbenmeyer then singled moved Hrdlicka to second.
Herman put the Walkers in front with a single to right-center.
A Jose Morillo homer off Hrdlicka in the sixth tied it at 3-3.
Joe Allen quickly untied it when he led the bottom of the inning with a homer off Richardson.
The Walkers broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Wibbenmeyer got it started with a lead-off single off Elijah Louis.
A two-out walk to Nick Shaw put two runners on base.
A single by Allen then made it 5-3.
Five pitches later, it was 8-3 as Jose Ramon hit a three-run homer.
Hrdlicka (4-3) went six innings, allowing three runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked one.
Maximilliano Minelli got the first two outs of the seventh.
Ron Cox finished the seventh and worked a scoreless eighth.
Kyle Smarr closed it out with a scoreless ninth.
