April 10-12, 2023: vs Toronto (3)
Game 1: 6-1 W. WP-Gau (1-0). Starter-Patino (4.2 1 0 0 0 4). HR-B.Lowe (3), Mead (1). Rays took their 2023 home opener but unfortunately Luis Patino had to leave in the 5th after dealing, he has a sore shoulder (moderate) so he'll go to the IL and miss a few starts. Curtis Mead has his first MLB homer.
Transaction: Patino goes on the IL and should be ready when his time is up. Calvin Faucher is called up to give us a bullpen arm for a few days until Patino's turn comes up when we'll bring back Yonny Chirinos.
Game 2: 3-4 L. LP-Anderson (0-1). Starter-Glasnow (6 1 2 1 1 5). HR-J.Lowe (2), B.Lowe (4). Glasnow had a no-hitter through 5 and the Rays had a 3-2 lead going into the 9th but Nick Anderson melted down and allowed a pair of runs to blow the game.
Game 3: 10-5 W. WP-Feyereisen (1-0). Starter-Rasmussen (6 6 5 5 1 6). HR-Toro (2), J.Lowe (3), H.Ramos (3). Rasmussen had a 4-0 lead and a 1-hit shutout going into the 6th when he suddenly couldn't get anyone out, giving up hits to the first 5 batters capped by a Vlad Jr 3-run shot. But the Rays fought right back on a J.Lowe homer to tie and then scored 5 in the 7th capped by Heliot Ramos' 3-run jack to pull out the win.
Team record: 4-3. Next up: Boston comes to the Trop for 4 games; they're in first place after a 5-2 start.
Noticing a lot of homers so far this year, although even by those standards we're 2nd in MLB in homers with 17 in 7 games, a far cry from last year's offensive poverty.
