Scott Reis is one of the best players in the history of the Action Baseball League. He has been in the league since its inception in 1972 and remarkably has played for the same team, the Cincinnati Cougars. He was their first pick in the 1972 inaugural draft and the third pick overall.

He has a list of accolades that is quite impressive: he is a six-time player of the week, a six-time batter of the month, a three time Most Valuable Player, a seven-time best hitter at his position, center field, and he has represented the “Cool Cats” at every All-Star game played so far.

But there's one thing he lacks, a grand championship. The Cougars made the playoffs in ‘76 and ‘77. In 1976 they lost a tough division championship series to the Houston Mavericks that went seven games and in 1977 they lost to those same Mavericks in the second round 4-2 after sweeping the Portland Lumberjacks in the first round.

Hopefully Reis will get another chance at a grand championship before he retires.

The 1979 Cincinnati Cougars boasts of some free agent acquisitions that make them an early favorite in the ABC central division.
Former Miami Hurricanes Grand Champion Preston Strate, Victor Torres from the San Diego Seraphs, 1976 ABC batting champion Boboy 'Dr. Sticks' Nierva, and key part of the Phoenix Firebirds '75 GCoB run veteran hurler Arthur 'Fatso' Blin is also a part of an already formidable pitching staff.

“This may be the best team I've been on.” said Reis. “But it's not a sprint it's a marathon, hopefully we can stay healthy play some good baseball.”

I think we're all kind of rooting for Reis. He is already a legend in the Action Baseball League. Depending on how long he plays he could be the face of the league well into the future.

This is the Game!
