Walkers news: June 28 -- Herniated disc to sideline Cisneros,
The St. Louis River Walkers have placed right-handed starting pitcher Miguel Cisneros on the 60-day injured list after he suffered a herniated disc in his back while pitching during a 4-1 win over Cleveland on June 26.
Cisneros, who is in his second season with St. Louis, had gone 5-6 in 15 starts in 2039.
The 36-year-old had worked a total of 89.1 innings, during which he struck out 58 and had a 3.53 ERA.
Getting recalled from AAA and taking Cisneros spot in the rotation is 26-year-old right-hander Juan Farais.
An off-season free agent signing by the Walkers, Farais started the season at AAA Memphis before being called to St. Louis after Xavier Wigfall suffered an injury.
While with the Walkers, Farais made seven starts going 2-1 with a 4.69 ERA -- he worked a total of 40.1 innings striking out 40 and posting a 1.21 WHP -- before suffering a shoulder injury.
Recovered from his injury, Farias returned to AAA Memphis, where he made two starts, winning both with a 4.01 ERA over 11.2 innings.
Farias struck out nine during his second stint with the Redbirds and posted a 1.36 WHIP.
