Providence Junior Pro League Set to Start
The PJPL is set to start tomorrow in its second season affiliated with the CBO. Last season, the Pawtucket Paw Sox became the first official winners of the Rhode Island Series when they swept the regular-season champions, the Hope Lurk Grinders, in two games.
This season, the Paw Sox are expected to repeat and finish in a tie with the Brown U Bubblers. Hope, now known as the Firestarters, and the Woodlawn Red Clay are each expected to finish two games back, while the Freeplat Wicked Goods and the West Seekonk Quahog are expected to finish three games back.
The Quahog's Hondo Ohnaka is expected to be the top hitter in the PJPL, while Ogre Olmstead of Freeplat is expected to be the top hitter.
Some other players to watch for include LF Mike Bookfarmer (Brown U), 1B Weequay Taanti (Woodlawn), 3B Bendu Cook (Hope), SS Bobba Fette (Pawtucket), SP Freak Mouton (Hope), SP Redd Barron (Pawtucket), SP Closecall Jones (West Seekonk), and SP Kamal Similton (Woodlawn).
