It sounds like a scaling issue. No guarantees but, here's a couple things you can try:
1) Since you bought the game on Steam... Open up your Steam client and go to your Library. Once there, right click on Franchise Hockey Manager 8 and select 'Properties.' Under 'Launch Options' enter the following text:
DisableHighDpiScaling
Close the game and restart.
2) If you're running Windows 10, go to 'Settings -> System' and under 'Scale and Layout' select 125 (instead of the default 150).
Close and restart the game.
