September 7-9, 2046: vs Baltimore (3)

Game 1: It was a routine Rays rout at Publix Park as Tampa Bay blasted Baltimore 11-3 in the series opener for their 100th win of the season. Dave Frick led the hit parade by hitting a pair of 2-run doubles, Seth Williams went 3-5 with HR #16 and 3 RBI, Jose Castillo blasted #27 and Luis Barela launched #25. Marc Gibson (14-2) was solid in a 6.1 3 3 3 2 6 outing.

Game 2: The Rays put another 8 on the board but pretty much needed them all to get by Baltimore 8-6. Mario Saro hit his 28th homer of the year to take over the club lead but Jose Castillo went yard for the second straight game to tie him as did Luis Barela (for the second straight game that is) with #26, a 3-run shot in the 7th which proved to be the difference. Seth Williams had 4 hits including a double and scored 3 times as he got back to .300. Despite a poor outing (5 11 4 4 1 3) Greg Bookhart went to 16-3 and Willie Minier got the final out of the game for his 30th save.

Game 3: Tampa Bay rested some regulars and Baltimore took advantage to take a 3-2 win in the series finale. One regular who did play, Jose Castillo, homered for the third straight game (#29) and Alex Duran also went deep (#16) for the two Rays runs. Jim Brophy (15-8) was the tough-luck loser after a fine 6 7 3 2 2 1 performance.

Team record: 101-41. Next up: Cleveland visits for 3 games.
