Walkers news: Sept. 19 -- Peoria 4, St. Louis 3, Game 2

Record: 82-68, 1st, Tied/w. Cedar Rapids
Peoria starting pitcher Seth Sipple allowed one run over the first seven innings -- he also drove in a run with a single -- to help the Rivermen defeat St. Louis 4-3 and earn a doubleheader split at Globe Life Park.
Sipple (8-12) allowed just three hits in his time on the mound while striking out five and issuing one walk.
The lone run the Walkers got off Sipple was on Manuel Coke's 49th homer of the season in the top of the fourth, making it 2-1.
Peoria's Bobby Dodson had opened the scoring with his 30th homer of the season, a two-run shot St. Louis rookie starter Billy Hermann in the bottom of the first.
Herman had come up from AAA Memphis to pitch this game due to a shortage of starting pitchers.
The Rivermen's other runs came in the fourth -- Sipple with a two-out single off Hermann -- and sixth-- Eric Nichols led off with a double off Kyle Smarr and scored on a Steven Williams single -- as they took a 4-1 lead.
The Walkers scored a pair of runs in the eighth off reliever Hans Aguiar.
Tom Porter drove them both in with a single.
But Peoria closer Juan Munoz came on to the get final out of the eighth -- Nick Shaw popped out to the shortstop after Coke had drawn a walk to load the bases - and followed that by setting the side down in order in the ninth for his 28th save.
