Walkers news: Sept. 20 -- Jimenez sent to AAA after injury; Simmons called up from Memphis
The St. Louis River Walkers have sent left-handed relief pitcher Frank Jimenez to AAA Memphis after he had to leave their 4-3 loss to Peoria on Sept. 20 with a back injury.
Jimenez is expected to miss a week and will actually remain with the club but not be eligible to pitch as Memphis' season has come to an end.
The 25-year-old Jimenez has had a bumpy season bouncing back and forth between St. Louis and Memphis.
In 43 games with the Walkers, he has pitched in 43 games (all in relief) and gone 0-3 with a 5.30 ERA.
He has worked a total of .37.1 innings, during which he has struck out 48 and posted a 1.69 WHIP.
Getting called up from AAA is 23-year-old left-hander Nate Simmons.
Simmons most of the season at AAA, where he went 11-7 with a 2.71 ERA in 25 games. He pitched 159.2 innings, during which he struck out 142 and had a 1.03 WHIP.
St. Louis also announced that after making his start in the second game of the doubleheader against Peoria, Billy Hermann has been returned to the Memphis roster while Juan Farias is back on the major-league roster.
