Wade Martin was named the Most Valuable Player of the postseason as the Rockford Lightning claimed their first World Series title by defeating the Columbus Golden Bears in six games.
The Lightning had advanced out of the National League championship series by defeating the Cedar Rapids Grapplers in six games.
In 12 postseason games, Martin batted .302with 10 homers, 12 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
He got on base at a .464 clip and slugged 1.023.
Martin was named MVP of the NLCS.
