April 16-18, 2047: vs Baltimore (3)
Game 1: It took the bats a time through the order to get going, but a 5-run 4th propelled the Rays to an 11-1 rout of the Orioles at Publix Park in their series opener. That 4th inning saw the Rays hit four consecutive doubles as they banged out 8 two-baggers in total along with a triple. Nelson Bocardo led the way going 3-4 with 3 RBI, Dave Frick and Doug Johns each drove in a pair and Seth Williams was 3-4 with an RBI. Greg Bookhart meanwhile went to 4-0, 1.44 after a fine 7 9 1 1 0 3 outing.
Game 2: The Rays kept fighting back and took a 5-4 win in 12 innings despite managing only one hit through the first 6 innings and trailing 3-0. Luis Barela's walkoff RBI single in the 12th was the winner, and they tied it on a wild pitch in the 10th after Satoshi Sato gave up a run in the top of the inning. Dave Frick's 2-run double in the 7th helped bring them back to get to extras. Ben Moses started and was going grat until he ran out of gas in the 5th, finishing 4.2 5 3 3 2 8 and Dan Anderson picked up his first win with 2 1/3 scoreless in relief.
Game 3: Another rout and another series sweep as the Rays blasted Baltimore 10-1. After not homering in the first two games they belted four longballs starting with Yuji Morioka's first of the season as he tries to shake off an early-season slump. Seth Williams (#3) went solo, Jeremy Williams hit his first MLB round-tripper, a 3-run blast and Kevin Crater added his AL-leading 7th. Bob Riley (3-0) was great again at 7 4 1 1 0 3 for the win.
Team record: 17-2. Next up: Boston visits for 3.
