What is the MLB Classic?
Together, the MLB Classic is composed of a variety of dedicated members who simply love the game of baseball and managing their own team to victory.
We have a group of commissioners that oversee the league for activity, concerns, and rules changes.
The MLBC will attempt to simulate the MLB and the minors as much as possible with a few changes that are optimized for OOTP online leagues.
For example:
Scouting/coaching off:
Having scouts is often a barrier when it comes to online leagues and often times GMs will demand to see the other GM's scouting report when making trades.
Having them off also ensures that everyone sees the same report which makes trading on the go much easier. This benefits drafting as well since you won't be tied to your computer. Coaches are just not represented well in OOTP and really do nothing but bloat the file size and add busy work trying to fill the positions.
2-8 ratings with no overalls:
Since scouting is off, 2-8 adds some ambiguity and it's also the seal that many real life scouts use. Overalls have been turned off because it forces the GM to factor in ratings when making decisions rather than one number. It actually makes for a better trading experience.
3 Wildcard teams:
With an extra playoff team in each league and a 5-game WC series, more human GMs will go for it. We've all been in leagues where perfectly competitive teams decide to tear it all down in June because they are not leading their division. The extra team helps with that. It also mimics the fact that the MLB will add teams to the playoffs very soon.
If interested, please send me a PM with your name, email, and team you would like to manage.
