Juan Farias pitched seven shutout innings and St. Louis gained its first victory of the season with a 5-2 win over Green Bay at PNC Park.
The Mallards took the first two games of the season-opening season.
Farias (1-0) didn't allow a hit until pinch-hitter Hugo Vargas singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth.
He got out of the sixth without allowing a run and did the same in the seventh.
With a 5-0 lead, Farias returned to the mound for the eighth and gave a lead-off single to pinch-hitter Jim Peebles.
He then left the game.
For the night, Farias would allow one run on three hits. He struck out six and walked four.
A two-run homer from Mark Herman in the top of the first inning off Mallards starting pitcher Jesse Mucci staked the River Walkers to an early 2-0 lead.
Jose Ramon hit a solo homer off Mucci in the third, making it 3-0.
Manuel Coke connected for a two-run double off Mushaknokoji Okamura in the eighth to stretch the advantage to 5-0.
Green Bay did score twice in the eighth to make it interesting.
Evan Palmer got the first two outs of the eighth.
Leo Hermosillo came in with a runner on to get the final out of the eighth.
Juan Munoz gave up a double to John Hartigan in the ninth but nothing else to earn his first save of the season.
