Walkers news: June 29 -- Rockford 3, St. Louis 1

Record: 36-47, 5th/(Tied/w. Los Angeles and Quad City), 7 GB Cedar Rapids
Rockford starting pitcher Pablo Maldonaldo threw five shutout innings and the Lightning bullpen allowed just one run the rest of the way as it downed St. Louis 3-1 at Busch Stadium (2006).
Maldonaldo (8-4) allowed three hits (two singles and a double) during his time on the mound. He struck out five and walked two.
While Maldonaldo was pitching, Rockford was taking a 2-0 lead.
Javy Monjaraz hit a solo homer off River Walkers starting pitcher Brent Autin with two outs in the top of the second.
Two innings later, the Lightning struck together three straight singles -- from Jared Braude, Monjaraz and Yui Watanbe -- to score its second run.
Duncan Littleton made it 3-0 in the top of the seventh with a two-out homer off Autin.
Four relievers, Jesse McNaboe, Ferrie Stolk, Tony Santana and Matt Whitmore, closed out the game with an inning apiece.
The lone St. Louis run came in the seventh when Alex Stewart hit a two-out homer off Stolk.
Whitmore posted his 14th save.
