While the home team fans were hoping for a repeat of yesterday's victory, the Detroit Tigers jumped out to a first inning lead, tacked on 3 additional runs in the 4th inning, and cruised to a 4-1 win over the Boston Americans. Newly acquired pitcher Cy Young (0-1) took the mound for the Americans and while he didn't pitch poorly, he could not keep the opposing hitters off the bases. Win Mercer led the home team hitting, going 2-4 with a stolen base.
